Got Hail Damage Alpharetta?

My house was hit by hail. What do I do?

Don’t Panic.

Unless a leak has occurred, your Alpharetta roof will still protect your house and belongs for the short term (meaning for the next several months). Just because your house has been pelted by solid ice balls, doesn’t mean that the ice balls were large enough to cause harm. Even if they were large enough, like say golf ball size, depending on how old your roof is, damage may not have occurred.

New Roofs Can Take A Pounding.

The newer your Alpahretta roof, the better it will withstand the sky falling on it. If the news channel says that golf balls size hail could fall or did fall doesn’t mean that golf ball size hail hit your house.

Interior Damage Can Take Time To Notice.

If damage has occurred, it might take weeks or months for you to notice. Roof maintenance can help homeowner spot damage more quickly. Unless you check your attic regularly for leaks, a dark spot on the ceiling or wall will be your first indication. Again, it might take awhile for this to happen and you to notice. Once you notice however, you have it seen about asap. Leaks only get worse over time and create more damage over time.

Most homeowners want to wait for an obvious sign of problems before acting and that is ok if you want problems instead of a problem. If you are concerned after the storm, have an Alpharetta roofing contractor come out for an inspection. Most do this for free and it doesn’t take more than an hour. Their trained eyes will be able to spot issues and then be able to tell you what action to take. A tip here – if your roof is less than fives years old, if there is damage it will be minor. If your roof is older than ten years, damage occurs more easily.

Have a Professional Inspect Your Roof.

If your house was hit by hail, check the attic for leaks. If you are still concerned, have an Atlanta roofing professional inspect it. But if there is damage, have it fixed. It will only get worse over time.
